Anglais Christmas in the Spanish Golden Age – Kerygma Ensemble
Works by Victoria, Morales and anonymous composers
‘O great mystery, and marvellous sacrament, that animals should see their newborn Lord, lying in a manger!’
In a programme devised especially for Beaune, the Kerygma Ensemble poetically recreates the atmosphere of a Christmas Eve Mass in late 16th-century Spain. Plainchant, polyphonic works by Victoria and Morales, and pieces specific to Christmas interplay with one another, with the motet *O magnum mysterium* serving as the central theme.
From the contemplative atmosphere of Matins to the joy of Midnight Mass, the programme takes us from the silent anticipation of the night to the splendour of the Nativity. An experience in which the intimacy of prayer gradually gives way to the joy of Christmas.
Let’s sing together!
At 3.30 pm, come and rehearse a few pieces from the programme with the Kerygma ensemble and sing them during the concert. Open to all, upon presentation of your ticket.

Lasst uns gemeinsam singen!
