Anglais Poissons is a village in the heart of an undulating green landscape. Crossed by the Rongeant river, it offers a peaceful setting for relaxation and nature. The village is structured around the Saint-Aignan church and château, and a number of old buildings that bear witness to its local history. With a population of around 600, Poissons offers a peaceful atmosphere and unspoilt rural surroundings.

In Poissons, the history of metallurgy goes back more than a thousand years. It dates back to 961 and remained active until the 20th century. The main forge, installed by 1616 at the latest, included a blast furnace, a refinery and a slitter. Around 1850, the Prés-Bas blast furnace and bocard were added, along with two other bocards at Fleury and Chenezonval. The ore, mined in difficult conditions, notably at Les Lacets de Mélaire, ensured very high quality smelting.
