Français (France) Le sixième chapitre des Archives Hans Ulrich Obrist honore le dixième anniversaire de la disparition de Dame Zaha Hadid (née le 31/10/1950 à Bagdad, Irak – décédée le 31/03/2016 à Miami, Floride, États-Unis). Cette exposition revient sur le long dialogue entre le commissaire et l’architecte légendaire, qui débute à la fin des années 1990 lorsqu’Obrist invite Hadid à réaliser Meshworks à la Villa Médicis en 2000. Hadid siège au conseil d’administration de la Serpentine dès 1996 et y conçoit le Pavillon inaugural en 2000, à l’invitation de Julia Peyton-Jones. Suite à la nomination d’Obrist à la Serpentine en 2006, elle participe à plusieurs de ses Marathons et signe ultérieurement la Serpentine North Gallery en 2013.
Pour la première fois depuis 2016, l’exposition réunit ses premières peintures calligraphiques et ses carnets — exercices de géométrie suprématiste qui nourrissent ses projets bâtis, de la Caserne de pompiers Vitra (1993) à la Tour CMA CGM (2011) à Marseille ou Pierresvives (2012) à Montpellier — accompagnés d’entretiens vidéo inédits de 2001 à 2013. Présentée dans La Tour conçue par le regretté Frank Gehry, ami proche de Hadid, l’exposition déploie trois chapitres de sa carrière d’architecte : du constructivisme à ses projets et réception précoces dans le contexte français, ainsi que sa relation au long cours avec Obrist.

This exhibition revisits the long conversation between the curator and the legendary architect, which began in the late 1990s when Obrist invited Hadid to realise Meshworks at the Villa Medici in 2000. Hadid was a trustee of the Serpentine from 1996, and she designed its inaugural Pavilion in 2000 invited by Julia Peyton-Jones. Following Obrist’s appointment at the Serpentine in 2006, she participated in several of its Marathons and later designed the Serpentine North Gallery in 2013.
For the first time since 2016, the exhibition brings together her early calligraphic paintings and notebooks—exercises in Suprematist geometry that informed her built projects, from the Vitra Fire Station (1993) to the CMA CGM Tower (2011) in Marseille or Pierresvives (2012) in Montpellier—along with previously unseen video interviews from 2001 to 2013. Presented in The Tower designed by the late Frank Gehry, a close friend of Hadid’s, the show spans three chapters of her career as an architect: from Constructivism to her early projects and reception in the French context, and her longstanding relationship with Obrist.
