Anglais Over the last twenty years or so, thousands of young craftsmen and artists from all over the world have chosen clay as a medium for self-expression. The movement is proving to be overwhelming and surprisingly enduring. The reasons for this success are manifold, and have much to do with the global socio-political context, the need to exist individually and collectively, and to anchor oneself in a shaky world.
At the same time, ceramics has ostensibly moved towards contemporary art. Theoretical and aesthetic questions, halfway between the visual arts, philosophy, psychoanalysis and sociology, have been constantly jostling with each other, shifting debates and boundaries. With this in mind, the Fondation d?entreprise Bernardaud presents works by 20 international artists it considers representative of the ceramic generation.
At the same time, ceramics has ostensibly moved towards contemporary art. Theoretical and aesthetic questions, halfway between the visual arts, philosophy, psychoanalysis and sociology, have been constantly jostling with each other, shifting debates and boundaries. With this in mind, the Fondation d?entreprise Bernardaud presents works by 20 international artists it considers representative of the ceramic generation.
Italien (Italie) Negli ultimi vent'anni circa, migliaia di giovani artigiani e artisti di tutto il mondo hanno scelto di usare l'argilla come mezzo di espressione personale. Il movimento è stato travolgente e sorprendentemente duraturo. Le ragioni di questo successo sono molteplici e hanno molto a che fare con il contesto socio-politico globale, con la necessità di esistere individualmente e collettivamente e di ancorarsi a un mondo che vacilla.
Allo stesso tempo, la ceramica si è apparentemente avvicinata all'arte contemporanea. Le questioni teoriche ed estetiche, a metà strada tra le arti visive, la filosofia, la psicoanalisi e la sociologia, hanno continuato a scontrarsi tra loro, spostando dibattiti e confini. In quest'ottica, la Fondation d'entreprise Bernardaud espone le opere di 20 artisti internazionali che considera rappresentativi della generazione della ceramica.

Français (France) Depuis une vingtaine d’années, des milliers de jeunes artisans et artistes de tous les pays du monde ont choisi de s’emparer du matériau argileux pour s’exprimer. Le mouvement s’avère submersif et étonnamment durable. Les raisons de ce succès sont multiples et tiennent grandement au contexte socio-politique mondial, au besoin d’exister individuellement et collectivement et de s’ancrer dans un monde chancelant.
Parallèlement, la céramique s’est ostensiblement déplacée vers l’art contemporain. Questionnements théoriques et esthétiques à mi-chemin entre les arts plastiques, la philosophie, la psychanalyse et la sociologie n’ont eu de cesse de se bousculer afin de faire bouger les débats et les frontières. Face à ce constat, la Fondation d’entreprise Bernardaud expose les œuvres de 20 artistes internationaux qu’elle estime représentatifs de la Génération céramique.
