Vietnam, Perù, Cuba, Cambogia, Senegal, India, Nepal, Laos, Thailandia… il fotografo Jean-Yves Desfoux ci accompagna nei suoi viaggi da reporter e, con questa mostra intitolata %AB Volti del mondo %BB, ci invita nelle regioni più remote del pianeta, alla scoperta delle diverse etnie e popolazioni del mondo rurale. A stretto contatto con gli abitanti, lontano dai sentieri battuti, ci propone una galleria di ritratti di viaggi e incontri che ha realizzato negli ultimi 10 anni, da quando si è ritirato dalla carriera di fotoreporter.
Nel lavoro di questo %ABgiramondo normanno%BB si percepisce sempre un approccio sensibile ai suoi soggetti, un %E9ascolto, un momento di condivisione che gli consentono di cogliere queste espressioni così naturali, colte sul vivo e nel loro contesto naturale: «Che si tratti di fotografare i venditori di cavalli alla fiera di Sainte-Croix a Lessay o nei mercati sperduti tra le montagne dall’altra parte del mondo, questo approccio complice e caloroso è molto importante. È vero che amo le persone e, in ogni parte del mondo, amo fotografarle %BB spiega il giornalista, da sempre appassionato di reportage, prima di concludere: «Mi piace immergermi nella vita delle persone, il più vicino possibile alla loro realtà quotidiana, condividere brevi momenti di complicità in incontri fugaci per cogliere quegli sguardi e quei sorrisi. «Sono molto più un fotografo di volti che… di paesaggi!» aggiunge il reporter.
La sua passione per l’immagine, unita alle sue radici rurali (è figlio di piccoli contadini del sud della Manica), lo ha portato naturalmente a questo lavoro fotografico a contatto con le popolazioni più modeste, tra le etnie più remotenei villaggi, tra le montagne e nelle campagne, nei mercati... Questa galleria di ritratti di viaggio è realizzata nello spirito della «street photography», con l’aggiunta, in questo caso, di un approccio molto documentaristico e giornalistico da parte del reporter. In ciascuna di queste immagini umanistiche e benevole si percepisce il rapporto privilegiatoE9e e la complicità che il reporter instaura con la popolazione locale per coglierne momenti di grande spontaneità, in tutta semplicità e bellezza.
La mostra sarà accompagnata dall’uscita del libro %AB Visages du Monde %BB, con fotografie di Jean-Yves Desfoux e testi di François Simon, edito da APPN.

Biografia.
Jean-Yves Desfoux. Fotografo freelance negli anni ’80 per le agenzie di stampa internazionali Reuters, Associated Press e l’AFP (Agence France Presse), è stato poi assunto nello staff fotografico professionale del quotidiano Ouest-France (1985). Per oltre 0 anni ha seguito i più importanti eventi in Normandia per questo giornale: da Barack Obama al Dalai Lama, da Serge Gainsbourg all’Abbé Pierre, da Mick Jagger al presidente Léopold Sédar Senghor… In occasione di questi diversi reportage in Normandia, ha incontrato i personaggi più importanti del mondo. Molti di questi servizi sono stati trasmessi in Francia (Géo, VSD, Paris-Match, Le Monde, Le Nouvel Obs ecc.) ma anche pubblicati all’estero (Newsweek, The Daily Mail, The Financial Times, The Sun?).
Dopo questa lunga carriera da fotoreporter, da alcuni anni si è ritirato nella regione di Coutances (a Bricqueville-sur-Mer) dove, insieme alla moglie Christine, ha aperto un atelier d’artisti: %AB L’Atelier les 4 Routes %BB. Entrambi sono inoltre i fondatori del «terzo luogo» associativo %AB la galerie des sept %BB di Coutances, che propone mostre artistiche ed %E9v%eventi culturali (gratuiti) in un luogo storico della città (20.000 visitatori in anni di attività)
Ha inoltre appena fondato l’APPN (Associazione per la Promozione della Fotografia in Normandia), il cui ruolo è quello di presentare mostre ed eventi fotografici nella regione, nonché di sviluppare progetti collettivi che valorizzino la fotografia e il nostro territorio.
Parallelamente a questi diversi progetti ed eventi fotografici, tiene laboratori didattici con gli studenti sul fotogiornalismo e la fotografia di stampa, con l’obiettivo di trasmettere la sua passione per l’immagine e il reportage e di fornire alle giovani g%generazioni gli strumenti per comprendere e interpretare meglio le immagini di attualità.

Vietnam, Peru, Cuba, Cambodia, Senegal, India, Nepal, Laos, Thailand? Photographer Jean-Yves Desfoux takes us along on his reporting journeys and, through this exhibition titled “Faces of the World,” invites us to the most remote corners of the planet, to meet the diverse ethnic groups and people of the rural world. Getting up close with the locals, far off the beaten path, he presents a gallery of portraits from his travels and encounters over the past 10 years since retiring from his career as a photojournalist.
In the work of this “Norman globetrotter,” one always senses a sensitive approach to his subjects—a willingness to listen, a moment of connection—that allows him to capture these expressions so naturally, on the spot and in their natural setting: “Whether you’re here photographing the horse dealers at the Ste Croix de Lessay fair or at markets tucked away in the mountains on the other side of the world, this warm, friendly approach is very important.” “It’s true that I love people, and all over the world, I love photographing them,” explains the journalist, who remains passionate about photojournalism, before concluding: “I love immersing myself in people’s lives as closely as possible to their daily reality, sharing brief moments of connection during fleeting encounters to capture those glances and smiles. “I’m much more of a photographer of faces than… of landscapes!” adds the reporter.
His passion for photography, combined with his rural roots (he is the son of small farmers from southern Manche), naturally led him to this photographic work among the most humble communities, in contact with the most remote ethnic groupsin villages, in the mountains and countryside, and at markets… This gallery of travel portraits is created in the spirit of “street photography,” with the reporter’s very documentary and journalistic approach added to the mix. In each of these humanistic and compassionate images, one senses the special bondand the rapport the photographer builds with the locals to capture moments of great spontaneity, simplicity, and beauty.
The exhibition will coincide with the release of the book %AB Visages du Monde %BB, with photographs by Jean-Yves Desfoux and text by François Simon, published by Editions APPN.

Vietnam, Peru, Cuba, Cambodja, Senegal, India, Nepal, Laos, Thailand? fotograaf Jean Yves Desfoux neemt ons mee op zijn reis als verslaggever en nodigt ons met deze tentoonstelling, getiteld %AB Gezichten van de wereld %BB, uit naar de meest afgelegen uithoeken van de planeet, waar we kennis maken met de verschillende etnische groepen en bevolkingsgroepen van het platteland. Dicht bij de bewoners, ver van de gebaande paden, presenteert hij ons een reeks portretten van reizen en ontmoetingen die hij de afgelopen tien jaar heeft gemaakt, sinds hij met pensioen is gegaan na zijn carrière als fotojournalist.
In het werk van de %ABNormandische globetrotter%BB voel je altijd een gevoelige benadering van zijn onderwerpen, een %E9luisterend oor, een moment van delen waardoor hij deze zo natuurlijke uitdrukkingen kan vastleggen, spontaan en in hun natuurlijke omgeving: %ABOf je nu hier bent om de paardenhandelaars op de kermis van Sainte-Croix in Lessay te fotograferen of op markten, ver weg in de bergen aan de andere kant van de wereld, deze vertrouwelijke en hartelijke benadering is heel belangrijk. Zijn passie voor het beeld, gecombineerd met zijn plattelandsachtergrond (hij is de zoon van kleine boeren uit het zuiden van het departement Manche), heeft hem op natuurlijke wijze naar dit fotografische werk geleid, onder de meest bescheiden bevolkingsgroepen, in contact met de meest afgelegen etnische groepenin de dorpen, in de bergen en op het platteland, op de markten... Deze galerij met reisportretten is gemaakt in de geest van %AB street photography %BB, maar met daarnaast een zeer documentaire en journalistieke benadering van de verslaggever. Biografie.
Jean-Yves Desfoux. In de jaren 1980 werkte hij als freelancefotograaf voor de internationale persbureaus Reuters, Associated Press en AFP (Agence France-Presse), waarna hij in 1985 werd aangeworven als professioneel fotograaf bij de krant Ouest-France. Gedurende meer dan 0 jaar deed hij voor deze krant verslag van de belangrijkste gebeurtenissen in Normandië: van Barack Obama tot de Dalai Lama, van Serge Gainsbourg tot Abbé Pierre, van Mick Jagger tot president Léopold Sédar Senghor… Tijdens deze verschillende reportages in Normandië ontmoette hij de grootste persoonlijkheden ter wereld. Veel daarvan werden in Frankrijk gepubliceerd (Géo, VSD, Paris-Match, Le Monde, Le Nouvel Obs enz.), maar ook in het buitenland (Newsweek, The Daily Mail, The Financial Times, The Sun?).
Na deze lange carrière als fotojournalist heeft hij zich enkele jaren geleden teruggetrokken in de omgeving van Coutances (in Bricqueville-sur-Mer), waar hij samen met zijn vrouw Christine een kunstenaarsatelier heeft geopend: %AB L’Atelier les 4 Routes %BB. Beiden staan ook aan de basis van de gemeenschapsruimte %AB La Galerie des Sept %BB in Coutances, waar kunsttentoonstellingen en %E9v%(gratis) culturele evenementen organiseert in een erfgoedlocatie van de stad (20.000 bezoekers in het jaar van haar bestaan)
Hij heeft onlangs ook de APPN (Vereniging ter Bevordering van de Fotografie in Normandië), die tot doel heeft fototentoonstellingen en -evenementen in de regio te organiseren en daar collectieve projecten te ontwikkelen die de fotografie en onze regio in de schijnwerpers zetten.
Naast deze verschillende fotografische projecten en evenementen organiseert hij educatieve workshops met scholieren rond fotojournalistiek en persfotografie, met als doel zijn passie voor beeld en reportage over te brengen en de jonge generatiesde sleutels aan te reiken om de beelden uit het nieuws beter te begrijpen en te ontcijferen.

Der Fotograf Jean-Yves Desfoux nimmt uns mit auf seine Reise als Reporter und lädt uns mit dieser Ausstellung mit dem Titel „Gesichter der Welt“ in die entlegensten Gegenden der Erde ein, wo wir den verschiedenen Ethnien und Bevölkerungsgruppen des ländlichen Raums begegnen. Ganz nah bei den Einheimischen, fernab der ausgetretenen Pfade, präsentiert er uns eine Galerie mit Porträts von Reisen und Begegnungen, die er in den letzten 10 Jahren seit seinem Rückzug aus dem Fotojournalismus gesammelt hat.

Espagnol %AB Rostros del mundo %BB: Una invitación al viaje de la mano del reportero Jean-Yves Desfoux
Vietnam, Perú, Cuba, Camboya, Senegal, India, Nepal, Laos, Tailandia… El fotógrafo Jean-Yves Desfoux nos lleva tras sus pasos como reportero y nos invita, con esta exposición titulada «Rostros del mundo», a los rincones más recónditos del planeta, al encuentro con las diferentes etnias y poblaciones del mundo rural. Cerca de los habitantes, lejos de los caminos trillados, nos ofrece una galería de retratos de viajes y encuentros que ha realizado durante los últimos 10 años, desde que se jubiló de su carrera como fotoperiodista.
En la obra de este «trotamundos normando» siempre se percibe un enfoque sensible hacia sus sujetos, una capacidad de escuchar, un momento de intercambio que le permiten captar esas expresiones tan naturales, en el momento y en su entorno natural: «Ya sea aquí, fotografiando a los comerciantes de caballos de la feria de Sainte-Croix de Lessay, o en los mercados perdidos en las montañas al otro extremo del mundo, este enfoque cómplice y cálido es muy importante. «Es cierto que me gusta la gente y, en cualquier parte del mundo, me encanta fotografiarla», explica el periodista, que sigue apasionado por el reportaje, antes de concluir: «Me gusta sumergirme en la vida de la gente, lo más cerca posible de su realidad cotidiana, compartir breves momentos de complicidad en encuentros fugaces para captar esas miradas y sonrisas. «¡Soy mucho más un fotógrafo de rostros que… de paisajes!», añade el reportero.
Su pasión por la imagen, unida a sus raíces rurales (es hijo de pequeños agricultores del sur de La Mancha), le ha llevado de forma natural a este trabajo fotográfico entre las poblaciones más humildes, en contacto con las etnias más remotasen los pueblos, en las montañas y en el campo, en los mercados… Esta galería de retratos de viaje se ha realizado al estilo de la «fotografía callejera», con el añadido de un enfoque muy documental y periodístico por parte del reportero. En cada una de estas imágenes humanistas y bienintencionadas se percibe la relación privilegiadaE9e y la complicidad que el reportero teje con los autóctonos para capturar momentos de gran espontane%E9it%E9, con total sencillez y de gran belleza.

Durante más de 0 años cubrió los acontecimientos más importantes de Normandía para este periódico: desde Barack Obama hasta el Dalái Lama, desde Serge Gainsbourg hasta el Abbé Pierre, desde Mick Jagger hasta el presidente Léopold Sédar Senghor… Durante estos distintos reportajes en Normandía, tuvo la oportunidad de conocer a las personalidades más destacadas del mundo. Muchos de ellos se difundieron en Francia (Géo, VSD, Paris-Match, Le Monde, Le Nouvel Obs, etc.), pero también se publicaron en el extranjero (Newsweek, The Daily Mail, The Financial Times, The Sun?).
Tras esta larga carrera como fotoperiodista, se retiró hace unos años a la región de Coutances (en Bricqueville-sur-Mer), donde, junto con su esposa Christine, abrieron un taller de artistas: «L’Atelier les 4 Routes». Ambos son también los impulsores del «tercer lugar» asociativo «La Galerie des Sept» de Coutances, que ofrece exposiciones artísticas y %E9v%eventos culturales (gratuitos) en un edificio patrimonial de la ciudad (20 000 visitantes en años de existencia)
Además, acaba de crear la APPN (Asociación para la Promoción de la Fotografía en Normandía), cuya función es presentar exposiciones y eventos fotográficos en la región, así como desarrollar proyectos colectivos que pongan en valor la fotografía y nuestro territorio.

Durante más de 0 años cubrió los acontecimientos más importantes de Normandía para este periódico: desde Barack Obama hasta el Dalái Lama, desde Serge Gainsbourg hasta el Abbé Pierre, desde Mick Jagger hasta el presidente Léopold Sédar Senghor… Durante estos distintos reportajes en Normandía, tuvo la oportunidad de conocer a las personalidades más destacadas del mundo. Muchos de ellos se difundieron en Francia (Géo, VSD, Paris-Match, Le Monde, Le Nouvel Obs, etc.), pero también se publicaron en el extranjero (Newsweek, The Daily Mail, The Financial Times, The Sun?).
Tras esta larga carrera como fotoperiodista, se retiró hace unos años a la región de Coutances (en Bricqueville-sur-Mer), donde, junto con su esposa Christine, abrieron un taller de artistas: «L’Atelier les 4 Routes». Ambos son también los impulsores del «tercer lugar» asociativo «La Galerie des Sept» de Coutances, que ofrece exposiciones artísticas y %E9v%eventos culturales (gratuitos) en un edificio patrimonial de la ciudad (20 000 visitantes en años de existencia)
Además, acaba de crear la APPN (Asociación para la Promoción de la Fotografía en Normandía), cuya función es presentar exposiciones y eventos fotográficos en la región, así como desarrollar proyectos colectivos que pongan en valor la fotografía y nuestro territorio.
Paralelamente a estos diferentes proyectos y eventos fotográficos, imparte talleres educativos con escolares en torno al fotoperiodismo y la fotografía de prensa, con el objetivo de transmitir su pasión por la imagen y el reportaje, y de aportar a las nuevas g%las nuevas generaciones las claves para comprender y descifrar mejor las imágenes de actualidad.
Français (France) « Visages du Monde » : Une invitation au voyage par le reporter Jean-Yves Desfoux
Vietnam, Pérou, Cuba, Cambodge, Sénégal, Inde, Népal, Laos, Thaïlande… le photographe Jean Yves Desfoux nous emmène dans ses pas de reporter et nous invite avec cette exposition intitulée « Visages du monde » dans les contrées les plus reculées de la planète, à la rencontre des différentes ethnies et populations du monde rural. Au plus près des habitants, loin des sentiers battus, il nous propose une galerie de portraits de voyages et de rencontres qu’il a faites ces 10 dernières années depuis qu’il est en retraite de sa carrière de photojournaliste.
On sent dans le travail du «globe-trotter normand» toujours une approche sensible de ses sujets, une écoute, un moment de partage qui lui permettent de capter ces expressions si naturelles, sur le vif et dans leur cadre naturel : «Que vous soyez ici à photographier les maquignons de la foire Ste Croix de Lessay ou sur les marchés, perdus dans les montagnes à l’autre bout du monde, cette approche complice et chaleureuse, est très importante. C’est vrai que j’aime les gens et, partout dans le monde, j’aime les photographier » explique le journaliste toujours passionné de reportage avant de conclure : « J’aime m’immerger dans la vie des gens au plus près de leur réalité quotidienne, partager de courts moments de complicité en de brèves rencontres pour saisir ces regards et sourires. Je suis beaucoup plus un photographe de visages que… de paysages ! » ajoute le reporter.
Sa passion pour l’image conjuguée à ses racines rurales (il est fils de petits paysans du sud-manche) l’ont tout naturellement amené à ce travail photographique auprès des populations les plus modestes, au contact des ethnies les plus reculées dans les villages, dans les montagnes et campagnes, sur les marchés… Cette galerie de portraits de voyages est réalisée dans l’esprit de la « street photography » avec ici en plus une approche très documentaire et journalistique du reporter. Dans chacune de ces images humanistes et bienveillantes on sent la relation privilégiée et la complicité que le reporter tisse avec les autochtones pour en capter des moments d’une grande spontanéité, en toute simplicité et de toute beauté.
L’exposition sera accompagnée de la sortie du livre « Visages du Monde » photographies : Jean-Yves Desfoux, textes : François Simon aux Editions APPN.

Cette jeune association a pour objectif de développer des projets autour de l’image sur notre territoire en valorisant le travail des photographes normands par des projets d’expositions, d’édition et de rencontres avec le public. L’APPN est soutenue par la Crédit-Mutuel Maine-Anjou-Basse Normandie qui avec son dispositif Créavenir, aide les projets associatifs culturels pour la valorisation de notre territoire, le développement local et la création de lien social.

Jean-Yves Desfoux. Photographe pigiste dans les années 1980 pour les agences de presse internationales Reuters, Associated Press et l’AFP (Agence France Presse) il a ensuite été recruté dans le staff professionnel photo du journal Ouest-France (1985). Pendant plus de 0 ans il a couvert les plus grands événements en Normandie pour ce journal : de Barack Obama au DalaÏ Lama, de Serge Gainsbourg à l’Abbé Pierre, de Mick Jagger au Président Léopold Sédar Senghor… il va rencontrer les plus grands de ce monde lors de ces différents reportages en Normandie. Beaucoup seront diffusés en France (Géo, VSD, Paris-Match, Le Monde, le Nouvel Obs etc…) mais aussi publiés à l’étranger (Newsweek, The Daily Mail, The Financial Times, The Sun…).
