Mehrere Jahrhunderte lang war dieser Ort der Wohnsitz der Herren von Grancey und später der mächtigen Familie von Neufchâtel. Von dieser beherrschenden Position aus kontrollierten sie ein Gebiet, das an der Grenze zwischen Burgund und der Champagne lag.
Die Stiftskirche Saint-Jean wurde gegründet, um ein Kanoniker-Kollegium aufzunehmen, das für die Gottesdienste und das geistliche Leben des herrschaftlichen Anwesens zuständig war.
Da sich der Komplex heute in Privatbesitz befindet, kann er nicht frei besichtigt werden. Die Stiftskirche Saint-Jean kann jedoch während der Sommermonate im Rahmen von Führungen entdeckt werden, die mit der Touristeninformationsstelle des Dorfes organisiert werden.
