Léon Degoix (1858-1931) was a student at Avallon College and a lover of the sciences. He rubbed shoulders with many prominent figures from the Avallon area, including geology professor François Moreau (1808-1883), Abbé Alexandre Parat (1843-1931) and artist Achille Schneit (1810-1886).
Very involved in local cultural life, he was curator of the museum for a time and donated his collection of works to the Avallon municipal museum at the end of his life. Come and discover this multi-faceted personality from Avallon!
