Anglais According to legend, it was here that Laurian, Bishop of Seville in the 5th century, who had just been beheaded by the Visigoth king Totila, took his head in his hands, washed it in a fountain near a chapel and handed it over to his assassins, asking them to take it back to Seville.
Description
Description longue de la ressource.
Anglais The fountain, protected by a small aedicula that houses the statue of the bishop, still exists: for decades it was a popular place of pilgrimage, with the inhabitants going in procession on the saint's day.
The chapel, after having preserved for a long time the body of Laurian, which was transported in the 14th century to the church of Vatan, was transformed into a barn, as the commune of the Chapelle-Saint-Laurian is no longer a parish.
