Die Commanderie de Mons in Varetz wurde vom 12. bis Anfang des 14. Jahrhunderts von den Templern und danach bis zur Revolution von den Hospitalrittern des Malteserordens bewohnt.
Da die Anlage nach dem Verkauf als nationales Gut während der Revolution in Privatbesitz überging und einigen Familien gehörte, konnte sie bis 2023 nicht besichtigt werden. Die Besichtigung dieser Stätte bleibt also eine außergewöhnliche Gelegenheit, nachdem der neue Eigentümer die Öffnung der Stätte genehmigt hat.
