Allemand (Allemagne) Er stammte aus einer schottischen Familie, die sich in Le Havre niedergelassen hatte, und war Absolvent der École nationale des beaux-arts. eröffnete William Cargill 1894 sein Architekturbüro in Le Havre, wo er den ersten Teil seiner Karriere verbrachte: Kirchen, repräsentative Gebäude, Villen und Herrenhäuser, Sozialwohnungen und öffentliche Bauten prägen sein Werk in der Stadt und in der Region.
Der Vortrag beleuchtet den Werdegang dieses brillanten Architekten, der zwischen Tradition und Moderne alle Arten von Bauwerken realisiert und alle Stilrichtungen verkörpert hat.

Anglais Born into a Scottish family that had settled in Le Havre and a graduate of the École nationale des beaux-arts, William Cargill opened his firm in 1894 in Le Havre, where he spent the first part of his career: religious buildings, luxury apartment buildings, villas, and mansions, as well as public housing and public architecture, mark his body of work in the city and throughout the region.
This lecture traces the career of this brilliant architect who, straddling tradition and modernity, designed all types of buildings and exemplified every style.
