Description longue de la ressource.

Anglais Welcome to La Garde Guérin, listed since 1932 for its rich natural and historical heritage. This rocky, peninsula-shaped hillock towers 48 m above the waves. It is the highest point on the Ille-et-Vilaine coastline. The natural promontory offers an exceptional panorama of the Dinard golf course and the coast as far as Cap Fréhel. On a clear day, you can even make out the Chausey islands.

The Pointe de la Garde Guérin has been occupied by man since ancient times. Under Roman rule, a temple was built here in honor of Hecate, guardian of the underworld, goddess of magic and protector of sailors. Much later, the rocky knoll was used as a lookout post. An aerial telegraph was built here. The Germans installed their cannons here during the Second World War. The concrete of the blockhouses, destroyed by the Allies in 1944, is still visible.

Deep-sea rocks - granite and dolerite - can be seen on Plage de la Garde and around the islet of Dame Jouanne. They alternate with sedimentary rocks, born of the erosion of the earth?s crust (sand, sandstone) but also of the transformation or fusion of rocks (schist, gneiss).

Moors, thickets and lawns form the landscape of coastal cliffs. Battered by wind and sea spray, the vegetation is home to numerous birds and insects.
