Le Deauville Sport Images Festival est un festival de la photographie et des cultures sportives d’envergure internationale, qui s’attache à explorer, à travers l’image, les multiples dimensions du sport. Exposition : "Portfolio", par Pauline Ballet « Je suis venue par hasard à la photographie de sport. Chez Amaury sport organisation , où je travaillais à l’archivage, j’ai été ainsi envoyée sur quelques évènements . Je me souviens d’un des tout premiers. C’était la Flèche wallonne . Une épreuve de cyclisme – une des plus dures, avec le « mur de Huy » et sa côte frôlant les 22 %. J’ai pris une claque ! J’ai été fascinée par le spectacle, entre la ferveur du public et l’énergie exceptionnelle qu’il fallait aux cyclistes pour venir à bout de cette course…» Depuis maintenant près de vingt ans, Pauline Ballet, diplômée de l’École nationale de photographie d’Arles, n’a cessé de traquer, dans ses clichés, ces deux composantes indispensables au spectacle sportif – le public avec ses émotions ; le compétiteur dans son effort. La victoire et la défaite. Comme le concentré du tragique de l’existence. La coexistence, parfois à quelques mètres du vainqueur et du vaincu. « Je me souviens. C’était sur le Tour de France en 2023. Le Contre-la-montre de Combeloux . Vingegaard explose le chrono. Il met une minute à Pogačar. Je suis à proximité du podium officiel. Et je fais cette photo qui a marché. Pogačar réalise qu’il vient de perdre le Tour. Il est prostré, le regard dans le vide. Vingegaard est devant. Il signe les maillots.». Les images de Pauline Ballet accrochent cette part d’humanité, mais les inscrivent dans une fantasmagorie propre au spectacle sportif à travers la grande variété de son langage plastique, fait de grands angles, de flous, de zooms… Pauline Ballet développe une approche exigeante de l’image, de la prise de vue au tirage. Diplômée de l’École nationale supérieure de la photographie d’Arles, elle fonde son travail sur la maîtrise de la lumière, la précision du cadrage, l’attention portée à l’instant. Après des expériences dans la presse, notamment au sein de Télérama, elle rejoint Amaury Sport Organisation. Elle s’impose progressivement dans l’univers du sport de haut niveau. Pauline photographie le Tour de France, Roland-Garros, les Jeux olympiques de Tokyo, Paris, les Championnats du monde sur route… Elle intervient également sur la Formule 1, élargissant son champ à des univers où la vitesse redéfinit la notion d’instant. Photographe indépendante, Pauline propose une lecture à la fois documentaire et sensible du sport, mettant en lumière l’intensité humaine, les temps d’attente et les émotions.

Tentoonstelling: "Portfolio", door Pauline Ballet %AB Ik ben bij toeval in de sportfotografie terechtgekomen. Bij Amaury Sport Organisation, waar ik in het archief werkte, werd ik naar een aantal evenementen gestuurd. Ik herinner me een van de allereerste. Dat was de Waalse Pijl. Een wielerwedstrijd – een van de zwaarste, met de %AB muur van Huy %BB en zijn helling van bijna 22 %. Ik was totaal onder de indruk! Ik was gefascineerd door het spektakel, tussen de enthousiaste toeschouwers en de uitzonderlijke energie die de wielrenners nodig hadden om deze race tot een goed einde te brengen…BB Al bijna twintig jaar lang legt Pauline Ballet, afgestudeerd aan de Nationale School voor Fotografie in Arles, in haar foto’s voortdurend deze twee onmisbare componenten van het sportspektakel vast: het publiek met zijn emoties; de deelnemer in zijn inspanning. De overwinning en de nederlaag. Als een concentratie van het tragische van het bestaan. Het naast elkaar bestaan, soms op slechts enkele meters afstand van de winnaar en de verslagenen. %AB Ik herinner het me nog. Het was tijdens de Tour de France in 2023. De tijdrit van Combeloux. Vingegaard verpulvert de tijd. Hij pakt een minuut voorsprong op Poga?ar. Ik sta vlak bij het officiële podium. En ik maak die foto die aansloeg. Pogačar beseft dat hij zojuist de Tour heeft verloren. Hij staat terneergeslagen, met een lege blik. Vingegaard staat vooraan. Hij signeert de truien.%BB. De beelden van Pauline Ballet leggen dit stukje menselijkheid vast, maar plaatsen ze tegelijkertijd in een fantasiewereld die eigen is aan het sportspektakel, dankzij de grote verscheidenheid van haar beeldtaal, bestaande uit groothoekopnames, onscherpte en zoomopnames… Pauline Ballet ontwikkelt een veeleisende benadering van het beeld, van de opname tot de afdruk. Ze is afgestudeerd aan de École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles en baseert haar werk op de beheersing van het licht, de precisie van de kadrering, de aandacht voor het moment. Na ervaringen in de pers, met name bij Télérama, trad ze in dienst bij Amaury Sport Organisation. Ze maakt geleidelijk naam in de wereld van de topsport. Pauline fotografeert de Tour de France, Roland-Garros, de Olympische Spelen in Tokio en Parijs, de wereldkampioenschappen op de weg… Ze is ook actief in de Formule 1, waarmee ze haar werkterrein uitbreidt naar werelden waar snelheid het begrip ‘moment’ een nieuwe invulling geeft. Als zelfstandig fotografe biedt Pauline een zowel documentaire als gevoelige kijk op de sport, waarbij ze de menselijke intensiteit, de momenten van afwachten en de emoties belicht.

Mostra: "Portfolio", di Pauline Ballet %AB Mi sono avvicinata alla fotografia sportiva per caso. Presso Amaury Sport Organisation, dove lavoravo all’archiviazione, sono stata così inviata a seguire alcuni eventi. Ricordo uno dei primissimi. Era la Freccia Vallone. Una gara ciclistica tra le più dure, con il «muro di Huy» e la sua pendenza che sfiorava il 22%. Ne sono rimasta folgorata! Sono rimasta affascinata dallo spettacolo, tra il fervore del pubblico e l’energia eccezionale di cui i ciclisti avevano bisogno per portare a termine questa gara…BB Da ormai quasi vent’anni, Pauline Ballet, diplomata alla Scuola Nazionale di Fotografia di Arles, non ha mai smesso di immortalare, nei suoi scatti, queste due componenti indispensabili dello spettacolo sportivo: il pubblico con le sue emozioni; l’atleta nel suo sforzo. La vittoria e la sconfitta. Come il concentrato della tragicità dell’esistenza. La coesistenza, a volte a pochi metri di distanza, del vincitore e dello sconfitto. %AB Me lo ricordo. Era il Tour de France del 2023. La cronometro di Combeloux. Vingegaard fa a pezzi il cronometro. Guadagna un minuto su Poga?ar. Mi trovo vicino al podio ufficiale. E scatto quella foto che ha fatto scalpore. Pogačar si rende conto di aver appena perso il Tour. È prostrato, lo sguardo perso nel vuoto. Vingegaard è davanti. Firma le maglie.%BB. Le immagini di Pauline Ballet catturano questa parte di umanità, ma le inseriscono in una fantasmagoria propria dello spettacolo sportivo attraverso la grande varietà del suo linguaggio visivo, fatto di grandangoli, sfocature, zoom… Pauline Ballet sviluppa un approccio esigente all’immagine, dalla ripresa alla stampa. Laureata presso la Scuola Nazionale Superiore di Fotografia di Arles, basa il suo lavoro sulla padronanza della luce, sulla precisione dell’inquadratura, l’attenzione rivolta all’istante. Dopo alcune esperienze nel mondo della stampa, in particolare presso Télérama, entra a far parte di Amaury Sport Organisation. Si afferma progressivamente nel mondo dello sport di alto livello. Pauline fotografa il Tour de France, il Roland-Garros, le Olimpiadi di Tokyo e di Parigi, i Campionati del mondo su strada... Lavora anche nella Formula 1, ampliando il suo campo d’azione a mondi in cui la velocità ridefinisce il concetto di istante. Fotografa indipendente, Pauline propone una visione allo stesso tempo documentaristica e sensibile dello sport, mettendo in luce l’intensità umana, i momenti di attesa e le emozioni.

Ausstellung: „Portfolio“ von Pauline Ballet %AB Ich bin eher zufällig zur Sportfotografie gekommen. Bei Amaury Sport Organisation, wo ich in der Archivierung arbeitete, wurde ich zu einigen Veranstaltungen geschickt. Ich erinnere mich an eines der allerersten. Es war die Flèche wallonne. Ein Radrennen – eines der härtesten, mit der „Mur de Huy“ und ihrer Steigung von fast 22 %. Das hat mich umgehauen! Ich war fasziniert von diesem Spektakel – von der Begeisterung des Publikums und der außergewöhnlichen Energie, die die Radfahrer aufbringen mussten, um dieses Rennen zu meistern…BB Seit nunmehr fast zwanzig Jahren hält Pauline Ballet, Absolventin der École nationale de photographie in Arles, in ihren Aufnahmen stets diese beiden unverzichtbaren Komponenten des sportlichen Spektakels fest: das Publikum mit seinen Emotionen; den Wettkämpfer in seiner Anstrengung. Sieg und Niederlage. Wie die Essenz des Tragischen des Daseins. Das Nebeneinander, manchmal nur wenige Meter voneinander entfernt: der Sieger und der Besiegte. %AB Ich erinnere mich. Es war bei der Tour de France 2023. Das Zeitfahren von Combeloux. Vingegaard bricht den Rekord. Er liegt eine Minute vor Poga?ar. Ich befinde mich in der Nähe des offiziellen Podiums. Und ich mache dieses Foto, das einschlug. Pogačar begreift, dass er gerade die Tour verloren hat. Er ist niedergeschlagen, der Blick ins Leere gerichtet. Vingegaard steht vor ihm. Er signiert die Trikots.%BB. Die Bilder von Pauline Ballet fangen diesen Teil der Menschlichkeit ein, betten sie jedoch durch die große Vielfalt ihrer bildlichen Sprache – bestehend aus Weitwinkelaufnahmen, Unschärfen und Zooms – in eine für den Sporttypische Phantasmagorie ein. Pauline Ballet verfolgt einen anspruchsvollen Ansatz in der Bildgestaltung, von der Aufnahme bis zum Abzug. Als Absolventin der École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles stützt sie ihre Arbeit auf die Beherrschung des Lichts, die Präzision der Bildkomposition und der Aufmerksamkeit für den Moment. Nach Erfahrungen in der Presse, insbesondere bei „Télérama“, wechselte sie zur Amaury Sport Organisation. Nach und nach etablierte sie sich in der Welt des Spitzensports. Pauline fotografiert die Tour de France, Roland-Garros, die Olympischen Spiele in Tokio und Paris sowie die Straßen-Weltmeisterschaften. Sie ist auch in der Formel 1 tätig und erweitert damit ihr Betätigungsfeld auf Bereiche, in denen Geschwindigkeit den Begriff des Augenblicks neu definiert. Als freiberufliche Fotografin bietet Pauline eine zugleich dokumentarische und einfühlsame Sichtweise auf den Sport und rückt dabei die menschliche Intensität, die Wartezeiten und die Emotionen in den Vordergrund.

Exposición: «Portfolio», de Pauline Ballet %AB Llegué a la fotografía deportiva por casualidad. En Amaury Sport Organisation, donde trabajaba en el archivo, me enviaron a cubrir algunos eventos. Recuerdo uno de los primeros. Fue la Flecha Valona. Una prueba de ciclismo de las más duras, con el «muro de Huy» y su pendiente que roza el 22 %. ¡Me quedé alucinada! Me fascinó el espectáculo, entre el fervor del público y la energía excepcional que necesitaban los ciclistas para superar esta carrera…BB Desde hace ya casi veinte años, Pauline Ballet, titulada por la Escuela Nacional de Fotografía de Arles, no ha dejado de plasmar en sus instantáneas estos dos componentes indispensables del espectáculo deportivo: el público con sus emociones; el competidor en pleno esfuerzo. La victoria y la derrota. Como un concentrado de lo trágico de la existencia. La coexistencia, a veces a pocos metros del vencedor y del vencido. %AB Lo recuerdo. Fue en el Tour de Francia de 2023. La contrarreloj de Combeloux. Vingegaard bate el récord. Le saca un minuto a Poga?ar. Estoy cerca del podio oficial. Y hago esa foto que tuvo tanto éxito. Pogačar se da cuenta de que acaba de perder el Tour. Está abatido, con la mirada perdida. Vingegaard está delante. Firma los maillots.%BB. Las imágenes de Pauline Ballet captan esa parte de humanidad, pero las inscriben en una fantasmagoría propia del espectáculo deportivo a través de la gran variedad de su lenguaje plástico, compuesto por gran angulares, desenfoques, zooms… Pauline Ballet desarrolla un enfoque exigente de la imagen, desde la toma hasta la impresión. Titulada por la Escuela Nacional Superior de Fotografía de Arles, basa su trabajo en el dominio de la luz, la precisión del encuadre y la atención prestada al instante. Tras varias experiencias en la prensa, especialmente en Télérama, se incorporó a Amaury Sport Organisation. Poco a poco se fue haciendo un hueco en el mundo del deporte de alto nivel. Pauline fotografía el Tour de Francia, Roland-Garros, los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio y París, los Campeonatos del Mundo en ruta… También trabaja en la Fórmula 1, ampliando su campo a ámbitos en los que la velocidad redefine el concepto de instante. Como fotógrafa independiente, Pauline ofrece una visión del deporte a la vez documental y sensible, poniendo de relieve la intensidad humana, los momentos de espera y las emociones.

"I came to sports photography by chance. At Amaury sport organisation, where I worked in archiving, I was sent to a few events. I remember one of the very first. It was the Flèche wallonne. A cycling event - one of the toughest, with the 'Mur de Huy' and its climb approaching 22%. It was a slap in the face! I was fascinated by the spectacle, between the fervour of the public and the exceptional energy that the cyclists needed to come through this race...". For almost twenty years now, Pauline Ballet, a graduate of the École nationale de photographie d'Arles, has been tracking down, in her photos, these two essential components of a sporting spectacle - the public with its emotions; the competitor in his effort. Victory and defeat. Like a concentrate of the tragedy of life. The coexistence, sometimes just a few metres away, of the winner and the loser. "I remember. It was during the Tour de France in 2023. The Combeloux Time Trial. Vingegaard smashed the clock. He takes a minute off Pogačar. I'm near the official podium. And I take this photo that worked. Pogačar realises that he has just lost the Tour. He is prostrate, staring into space. Vingegaard is in front. He signs the jerseys". A graduate of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie in Arles, she bases her work on the mastery of light, precise framing and attention to the moment. After working in the press, notably for Télérama, she joined Amaury Sport Organisation. She gradually made her mark in the world of top-level sport. Pauline has photographed the Tour de France, the French Open, the Olympic Games in Tokyo and Paris, the World Road Championships, etc. She has also worked on Formula 1, broadening her scope to include worlds where speed redefines the notion of the moment. As a freelance photographer, Pauline's approach to sport is both documentary and sensitive, highlighting human intensity, waiting times and emotions.
