Néerlandais (Pays-Bas) Hoewel de Baskische mythologie sinds de 19e eeuw grote wetenschappelijke en literaire belangstelling heeft gewekt, is recent onderzoek nog steeds niet erg toegankelijk voor het grote publiek. Tegelijkertijd is de mondelinge traditie die ooit voor de vitaliteit van deze verhalen en legenden zorgde, geleidelijk verzwakt. Tegen deze achtergrond heeft de tentoonstelling een dubbele ambitie: de huidige wetenschappelijke vooruitgang in de kijker zetten en het erfgoed delen dat door de eeuwen heen werd doorgegeven door de verhalenvertellers, verzamelaars en kunstenaars die de stem van deze stichtende verhalen droegen en nog steeds dragen. In 2026 zal het CDEP een tentoonstelling organiseren die volledig gewijd is aan de Baskische mythologie. Parallèlement, la tradition orale qui assurait autrefois la vitalité de ces récits et légendes s’est peu à peu fragilisée. Dans ce contexte, l’exposition s’inscrit dans une double ambition : mettre en lumière les avancées scientifiques actuelles, et partager ce patrimoine transmis au fil des siècles par les conteurs, collecteurs et artistes qui ont porté, et portent encore aujourd’hui, la voix de ces récits fondateurs. Ainsi, en 2026, le CDEP proposera une exposition évènement entièrement consacrée à la mythologie basque. Grâce à la participation de chercheurs spécialistes et au soutien d’institutions partenaires, l’exposition offrira un éclairage scientifique renouvelé.

Anglais Although Basque mythology has aroused keen scientific and literary interest since the 19th century, the state of recent research remains largely inaccessible to the general public. At the same time, the oral tradition that once ensured the vitality of these tales and legends has gradually weakened. Against this backdrop, the exhibition has a dual ambition: to highlight current scientific advances, and to share the heritage handed down over the centuries by the storytellers, collectors and artists who have carried, and still carry today, the voice of these founding tales. And so, in 2026, CDEP will be staging an exhibition devoted entirely to Basque mythology. Thanks to the participation of specialist researchers and the support of partner institutions, the exhibition will offer a fresh scientific perspective.
