Anglais Set on a rocky spur overlooking the plain, the village of Grancey-le-Château-Neuvelle resembles an ancient medieval town still strongly marked by its history.
The village grew up around the seigniorial castle and the collegiate church of Saint-Jean, whose spire still dominates the landscape. It is entered through a 13th-century fortified gateway preceded by a majestic avenue of century-old lime trees.
Along the narrow streets, visitors will discover a number of remarkable features: the old houses in the rue Saint-Antoine, the wash-house and the ramparts, now enhanced by night-time lighting.
The village is open to the public. Brochures outlining the history of the main buildings are available at the entrance to the tourist information point, and guided tours are also available in summer to discover the village's heritage.
