Anglais In Le Havre, the closure of the MJC in a working-class neighborhood has sparked unrest. An incident—an anecdote to some, a catastrophe and a head-on collision to others. Especially since this event in the life of the housing project will be the source of a series of tragedies, recounted in the urgency of a countdown: 1,729 seconds—or the time it took for the emergency medical services to gain entry to the MJC to provide assistance.

Julie Lerat-Gersant writes, composes, and choreographs an artistic polyphony in which people more or less connected to the event evolve and express themselves. The medical student, the CRS officer on duty, the young teenager on rollerblades, the police commissioner, the father with his young children, the anesthesiologist from the intensive care unit... There are seven of them—witnesses and participants in the drama—portrayed by actors. Each recounts their involvement—whether voluntary or not—their journey, and their perspective on the events. Echoing these diverse and contradictory reactions, an omniscient voice-over delves into the minds of those involved, orchestrating and rounding out the narrative.

The narrative is fragmented. We move from one location to another, from one voice to another. The sense of urgency is ever-present, underscored by the inexorable countdown of the 1,729 seconds allotted. The audience is kept in a state of dramatic tension, heightening their doubts and sharpening their questions.
