Néerlandais (Pays-Bas) Het doel van de tentoonstelling is om het werk van Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) te presenteren in de context van zijn artistieke nalatenschap, in een uitgebreide en ongekende dialoog. De tentoonstelling getuigt van het ongeëvenaarde nageslacht van de kunstenaar, vanaf het moment dat sommigen zich, teruggetrokken in Aix, afvroegen of hij wel echt bestond, tot de twintigste-eeuwse "Cezanne-mythe", als de grondlegger van de picturale moderniteit.

Français (France) L’exposition ambitionne de présenter largement l’œuvre de Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) au regard de son héritage artistique, dans un dialogue synthétique et inédit. Elle témoigne de la postérité sans comparaison de l’artiste, du moment où, reclus à Aix, certains se demandent s’il existe réellement, au « mythe Cezanne » du XXe siècle, comme père fondateur de la modernité picturale.
