Français (France) Passant son enfance parmi les villageois et campagnards de Nohant, observatrice fine et minutieuse de leurs mœurs, traditions et coutumes, sensible à la littérature orale venue du fonds des âges, elle jette un regard d’ethnographe sur la paysannerie et le monde rural qui l’entourent. Consciente de la disparition des rites ancestraux et du parler local, concernée par le devenir du savoir oral ou du corpus légendaire, elle sauve de l’oubli définitif des pans entiers de ce patrimoine populaire. Dans un glossaire, elle note les tournures et les mots typiques de sa Vallée Noire. Elle observe les costumes ruraux et les usages vestimentaires et consigne de multiples notations sur la bourrée et les instruments rustiques.
Anglais Spending her childhood among the villagers and country folk of Nohant, a keen and meticulous observer of their habits, traditions and customs, and sensitive to oral literature from the depths of time, she cast an ethnographer?s eye over the peasantry and rural world around her. Aware of the disappearance of ancestral rites and local speech, and concerned about the future of oral knowledge and legends, she rescues whole swathes of this popular heritage from oblivion. In a glossary, she notes the typical expressions and words of her Vallée Noire. She observed rural costumes and dress patterns, and recorded numerous notes on bourrée and rustic instruments.
