Néerlandais (Pays-Bas) Louise Thomas, afkomstig uit Bretagne, is een autodidactische en onafhankelijke artieste. Ze leerde gitaar spelen via de nummers van Alela Diane en Bob Dylan en maakte haar debuut in de indie-folk scene met haar eerste album Samovar.
Beïnvloed door artiesten als Sinead O'Connor en Dolores O'Riordan, componeert ze spontaan in het Engels en ruilt ze haar akoestische gitaar in voor een elektrische gitaar.
Ze begon met het schrijven van Samovar in Schotland, waar ze enkele jaren woonde en waar ze onvermoeibaar terugkeert om inspiratie op te doen. Samovar is de uitdrukking van een innerlijke onrust die te lang is ingehouden. De nummers op het album zijn opgebouwd als een verzameling momentopnames die met kracht en temperament de moeilijkheden van langeafstandsrelaties en de minachting voor de dienstverlenende beroepen die ze heeft uitgeoefend, oproepen.
