Een tedere en gevoelige ode aan broederlijke liefde
Op het podium verschijnen twee heel verschillende broers te midden van blokken cellenbeton, een overblijfsel of architectuur in wording. De ene is acteur, de andere kok. Jules werd in 1989 geboren in Coutances, waar hij opgroeide; Luis in 1998 in Oaxaca, Mexico, waar hij tot zijn zesde woonde, voordat hij werd geadopteerd door de ouders van Jules.
Luis dringt er al lang op aan om samen met Jules een voorstelling te maken. Luis wil een vrolijke en gezellige voorstelling; Jules wil dat het een indrukwekkend stuk wordt, waarin de moeilijke jeugd van zijn broer aan bod komt en de manier waarop zijn broer met zijn anders-zijn omgaat. Want Luis heeft een verstandelijke beperking die hij eenvoudig omschrijft als een „ander tempo”.
In een spel van kruisende blikken op zichzelf en op de ander, vieren Luis en Jules Sagot hun broederschap, brengen ze hun eigen gevoeligheden en een gezamenlijke intelligentie ten tonele, om de begrippen handicap en normaliteit te overstijgen. Een ontroerende liefdesverklaring aan de ander en aan de meerwaarde die zijn of haar anders-zijn met zich meebrengt.

Una celebrazione tenera e delicata dell’amore fraterno
Sul palcoscenico, due fratelli molto diversi tra loro appaiono in mezzo a blocchi di calcestruzzo cellulare, vestigia o architettura in divenire. Uno è attore, l’altro cuoco. Jules è nato nel 1989 a Coutances, dove è cresciuto; Luis nel 1998 a Oaxaca, in Messico, dove ha vissuto fino all’età di 6 anni, prima di essere adottato dai genitori di Jules.
Da tempo Luis chiede di mettere in scena uno spettacolo con Jules. Luis vuole uno spettacolo allegro e divertente; Jules vuole che sia incisivo, che affronti l’infanzia difficile di suo fratello e il modo in cui viene vissuta la sua diversità. Luis, infatti, ha una disabilità mentale che definisce semplicemente come un «rapporto diverso con la velocità».
In un gioco di sguardi incrociati su se stessi e sull’altro, Luis e Jules Sagot celebrano la loro fratellanza, mettono in scena le loro sensibilità personali e un’intelligenza comune, per superare i concetti di disabilità e normalità. Una commovente dichiarazione d’amore verso l’altro e verso il contributo che la sua diversità rappresenta.

En el escenario, dos hermanos muy diferentes aparecen en medio de bloques de hormigón celular, vestigios o arquitectura en ciernes. Uno es actor, el otro cocinero. Jules nació en 1989 en Coutances, donde creció; Luis, en 1998, en Oaxaca (México), donde vivió hasta los 6 años, antes de ser adoptado por los padres de Jules.
Desde hace tiempo, Luis lleva insistiendo en hacer un espectáculo con Jules. Luis quiere un espectáculo alegre y divertido; Jules quiere que sea impactante, que aborde la difícil infancia de su hermano y la forma en que se vive su diferencia. Y es que Luis tiene una discapacidad intelectual que él define sencillamente como «una forma diferente de percibir la velocidad».
En un juego de miradas cruzadas sobre uno mismo y sobre el otro, Luis y Jules Sagot celebran su fraternidad, ponen de manifiesto sus propias sensibilidades y una inteligencia común, para ir más allá de los conceptos de discapacidad y normalidad. Una conmovedora declaración de amor al otro y a la aportación que supone su diferencia.

Eine zärtliche und einfühlsame Hommage an die brüderliche Liebe
Auf der Bühne erscheinen zwei sehr unterschiedliche Brüder inmitten von Porenbetonblöcken – Überbleibsel oder Architektur im Entstehen. Der eine ist Schauspieler, der andere Koch. Jules wurde 1989 in Coutances geboren, wo er aufwuchs; Luis 1998 in Oaxaca, Mexiko, wo er bis zu seinem sechsten Lebensjahr lebte, bevor er von Jules’ Eltern adoptiert wurde.
Seit langem drängt Luis darauf, gemeinsam mit Jules eine Show auf die Beine zu stellen. Luis möchte eine fröhliche und sympathische Show; Jules möchte, dass sie eindringlich ist und die schwierige Kindheit seines Bruders thematisiert, die Art und Weise, wie dessen Andersartigkeit erlebt wird. Denn Luis hat eine geistige Behinderung, die er einfach als „ein anderes Verhältnis zur Geschwindigkeit“ definiert.
In einem Wechselspiel aus Blicken auf sich selbst und auf den anderen feiern Luis und Jules Sagot ihre Brüderlichkeit, bringen ihre jeweiligen Empfindlichkeiten und eine gemeinsame Intelligenz zum Ausdruck, um die Begriffe von Behinderung und Normalität zu überwinden. Eine berührende Liebeserklärung an den anderen und an den Beitrag, den dessen Andersartigkeit leistet.

Jules est né en 1989 à Coutances où il a grandi ; Luis en 1998 à Oaxaca au Mexique, où il a vécu jusqu’à ses 6 ans, avant d’être adopté par les parents de Jules.
Depuis longtemps, Luis réclame de faire un spectacle avec Jules. Luis veut un spectacle joyeux et sympa ; Jules veut qu’il soit marquant, abordant l’enfance difficile de son frère, la façon dont est vécue sa différence. Car Luis a un handicap mental qu’il définit simplement comme un « autre rapport à la vitesse ».
Dans un jeu de regards croisés sur soi et sur l’autre, Luis et Jules Sagot célèbrent leur fraternité, mettent en scène leurs sensibilités propres et une intelligence commune, pour dépasser les notions de handicap et de normalité. Une touchante déclaration d’amour à l’autre et à l’apport que constitue sa différence.

A tender and sensitive celebration of brotherly love
On stage, two very different brothers appear amid blocks of cellular concrete—a relic or architecture in the making. One is an actor, the other a chef. Jules was born in 1989 in Coutances, where he grew up; Luis was born in 1998 in Oaxaca, Mexico, where he lived until he was 6, before being adopted by Jules’s parents.
For a long time, Luis has been asking to put on a show with Jules. Luis wants a joyful and fun show; Jules wants it to be memorable, addressing his brother’s difficult childhood and the way his difference is experienced. For Luis has an intellectual disability that he simply defines as a “different pace.”
In a play of intersecting perspectives—on themselves and on each other— Luis and Jules Sagot celebrate their brotherhood, showcasing their unique sensibilities and shared intelligence to transcend the notions of disability and normality. A touching declaration of love for one another and for the contribution that their differences make.
