Allemand (Allemagne) Philip CATHERINE wurde als Sohn einer Engländerin und eines Belgiers in London geboren. Er ist eine lebende Legende des europäischen Jazz und einer der einzigartigsten und angesehensten Gitarristen seiner Generation. In London geboren und in Brüssel aufgewachsen, setzte er sich seit den 1970er Jahren als wesentliche Stimme der Jazzgitarre durch und entwickelte einen sofort erkennbaren Stil: lyrisch, luftig, warmherzig und zutiefst menschlich, immer im Dienste der Emotion.
