Description longue de la ressource.

Anglais For her first production at the Comédie-Française, Lorraine de Sagazan takes on the challenge of creating a wordless production to explore how theater can serve as a medium for expressing the inner lives of characters. She is not presenting an adaptation of an Antonioni screenplay here, but rather an original play inspired by his artistic approach—from the tetralogy centered on “the sickness of the heart” (L’Avventura, *La Notte*, *L’Eclipse*, and *Il Deserto Rosso*) to his short stories and unproduced screenplays. The play brings together themes dear to the filmmaker, such as disappearance, the dissolution of emotions, and the instability of perception.

The director, a resident at the Villa Médicis in 2022–2023, has long collaborated with the playwright Guillaume Poix, beginning in 2019 with *L’Absence de père* (The Absence of a Father), a free adaptation of Chekhov’s *Platonov*, followed by *La Vie invisible* (The Invisible Life) and *Un sacre* (A Sacrifice). For this project, which challenges theatrical conventions, he wrote numerous texts, including internal monologues that served as preparatory material for the actors and actresses.

Thus, they created an immersive performance in which the audience follows the plot not through the interpretationbut through gestures and glances, while the smallest details take on an unusual eloquence. Within a dual-front stage setup, like a long sequence shot with unity of place and time, the performance offers viewers the freedom to create their own “montage.” Up close to the stage, the performers’ bodies and faces, they uncover the expressive richness of their inner landscapes within the secrets of the silences.
