Il y a 140 ans, le 28 octobre 1886, la Statue de la Liberté était inaugurée dans la baie de New York, aux États-Unis.
Ces anniversaires coïncident aussi avec l’entrée dans les collections de quatre daguerréotypes modernes, réalisés par Patrick Bailly-Maître-Grand d’après des vues de la restauration de la Statue de la Liberté en 1985.
L’artiste, né en 1945 - qui vit et travaille à Strasbourg - a fait don de ces clichés au musée en 2025 : ils viennent compléter un ensemble de tirages argentiques de la même série, acquis par la Ville de Colmar à l’époque du centième anniversaire de la Statue.
L’exposition présentera la série Statue de la Liberté de l’artiste, les techniques photographiques utilisées, et le contexte dans lequel elle a été réalisée.
L’exposition est labellisée « Bicentenaire de la photographie » par le Ministère de la Culture.
Projet pédagogique
Le musée proposera aussi une mise en regard des œuvres de Patrick Bailly- Maître-Grand avec des photographies réalisées par des élèves de la classe de 4ème spécialité photographie, du collège Molière de Colmar, autour du thème de la liberté. Ils ont été accompagnés par les photographes colmariens Vanessa et
Vijay Moselle, qui ont animé des séances de prises de vue, ainsi que le traitement des images.

Vijay Moselle, che hanno guidato le sessioni di scatto e l’elaborazione delle immagini.
