Néerlandais (Pays-Bas) In 1332 kreeg Westhoffen de titel van stad van keizer Ludwig van Beieren van het Heilige Roomse Rijk. Dit gaf de stad toestemming om vestingwerken te bouwen en een wekelijkse markt te houden. De vestingwerken werden gebouwd rond een stedelijke kern in het noordoosten: de Staedtel, waarschijnlijk om budgettaire redenen. De vestingwerken meten 160 m van noord naar zuid en 180 m van oost naar west. De ommuring is 520 m lang en tussen 9 en 12 m hoog. De vestingwerken hadden 6 torens en twee poorten, de Unterstaedteltor en de Oberstaedteltor. De oostelijke muur is ongebruikelijk omdat hij het hart van de voormalige 11e-eeuwse kerk van St. De vestingmuren zijn omgeven door een droge gracht. In 1813 gaf het stadsbestuur opdracht om de vestingpoorten af te breken. In de 19e eeuw verbouwde de eigenaar de westelijke muur en de noordwestelijke toren naast het stadhuis. Het rode bakstenen prieel is een icoon van Westhoffen geworden.

De vestingmuren zijn toegankelijk vanaf de binnenplaats van het stadhuis (tot eind september):

Italien (Italie) Nel 1332, Westhoffen ottenne il titolo di città dall'imperatore Ludovico di Baviera del Sacro Romano Impero. Ciò diede alla città il permesso di costruire fortificazioni e di tenere un mercato settimanale. Le fortificazioni furono costruite intorno a un nucleo urbano a nord-est: lo Staedtel, probabilmente per ragioni di bilancio. Le fortificazioni misuravano 160 m da nord a sud e 180 m da est a ovest. Il recinto è lungo 520 metri e alto tra i 9 e i 12 metri. Le fortificazioni avevano 6 torri e due porte, la Unterstaedteltor e la Oberstaedteltor. Il muro orientale è insolito in quanto ingloba il cuore dell'ex chiesa di Sant'Erhard, risalente all'XI secolo. I bastioni sono circondati da un fossato asciutto. Nel 1813, il consiglio comunale ordinò la demolizione delle porte di fortificazione. Nel XIX secolo, il proprietario convertì il muro occidentale e la torre nord-occidentale accanto al municipio. Il gazebo in mattoni rossi è diventato un simbolo di Westhoffen.

Damit wurde die Erlaubnis erteilt, Befestigungen zu errichten und einen Wochenmarkt abzuhalten. Die Befestigungsanlagen wurden um den nordöstlichen Stadtkern, den Staedtel, herum errichtet, wahrscheinlich aus finanziellen Gründen. Die Abmessungen betragen 160 m von Nord nach Süd und 180 m von Ost nach West. Die Stadtmauer ist 520 m lang und zwischen 9 und 12 m hoch. Die Befestigungsanlage besaß 6 Türme und zwei Tore, das Unterstaedteltor und das Oberstaedteltor. Eine Besonderheit der Ostmauer ist, dass sie das Herz der alten St.-Erhard-Kirche (11. Jahrhundert) einschließt. Die Stadtmauer ist von einem trockenen Graben umgeben. Im Jahr 1813 ordnete der Stadtrat den Abriss der Tore der Festungsanlagen an. Im 19. Jahrhundert wurden die Westmauer und der Nordwestturm neben dem Rathaus vom Eigentümer ausgebaut. Eine Gloriette aus rotem Backstein, die zu einem emblematischen Bild von Westhoffen wird.

Cela octroi dès lors l’autorisation d’élever des fortifications et de tenir un marché hebdomadaire. Les fortifications vont se concentrer autour d’un noyau urbain situé au Nord-Est : le Staedtel, surement pour des raisons budgétaires. Les dimensions sont de 160m du Nord au Sud et 180m de l’Est à l’Ouest. L’enceinte est longue de 520m et a une hauteur variant entre 9 à 12m. Les fortifications possédaient 6 tours ainsi que deux portes, la Unterstaedteltor et la Oberstaedteltor. Le mur Est comporte la particularité d’avoir englobé le cœur de l’ancienne église Saint Erhard du XIe siècle. Les remparts sont entourés d’un fossé à sec. C’est en 1813 que le conseil municipal ordonne la démolition des portes des fortifications. Au XIXe siècle, le mur Ouest ainsi que la tour Nord-Ouest à côté de la mairie sont aménagés par le propriétaire. Une gloriette en brique rouge qui devient une image emblématique de Westhoffen.

For budgetary reasons, the fortifications were concentrated around an urban core to the northeast: the Staedtel. The dimensions are 160m from north to south and 180m from east to west. The enclosure is 520m long and between 9 and 12m high. The fortifications had 6 towers and two gates, the Unterstaedteltor and the Oberstaedteltor. A particular feature of the eastern wall is that it encompasses the heart of the former 11th-century church of St. Erhard. The ramparts are surrounded by a dry moat. In 1813, the town council ordered the demolition of the fortified gates. In the 19th century, the owner converted the west wall and the northwest tower next to the town hall. The red-brick gazebo has become a Westhoffen landmark.
