Alexandra David ist Französin und Australierin und wuchs am Rande eines Mangrovenwaldes auf. Heute lebt sie in einem Tal in den Vogesen. Hier, in der „Petite Camargue“, findet sie in einem Auenwald das Zusammentreffen von Wasser und Erde wieder.
Sie reiste ins Amazonasgebiet, wo sie eine intensive, schwindelerregende Begegnung mit den Pflanzen erlebte. Hoch oben im Blätterdach rauscht der Wind und das Licht scheint auf unglaubliche Blätter. Alexandra David kehrte mit Blättern in ihrer Tasche zurück, mit der Idee, diese in Kunstwerke zu verwandeln. Sie trägt Tinte auf Papier auf, legt das Blatt darauf und führt das Ganze durch die Druckpresse.
Was wir hier sehen, ist die Begegnung zwischen der Künstlerin und der Pflanze. Ihre Gesten dienen also dazu, die besondere Schönheit jedes einzelnen, dort platzierten Halms zu enthüllen – manchmal abgelehnt und als „schlecht“ bezeichnet –, die nun in ihrer ganzen Pracht zum Vorschein kommt.
So schafft sie eine Melodie, die uns umhüllt und uns einlädt, jede Blume, die sich so bescheiden unseren Sinnen darbietet, mit neuer Hoffnung zu betrachten.

Alexandra David est franco-australienne, elle a grandi en bord de mangrove. Elle vit maintenant dans une vallée des Vosges. Ici, à la Petite Camargue, elle retrouve, en forêt alluviale, la rencontre de l’eau et de la terre.
Elle s’est rendue en Amazonie où elle a vécu une rencontre intense avec les plantes, vertigineuse. Sur la canopée, tout là-haut, le vent bruisse et la lumière brille sur des feuilles incroyables. Alexandra David est revenue avec des feuilles dans sa besace, avec l’idée de les transformer en œuvres d’art. Elle met de l’encre sur un papier, pose le végétal par-dessus, et passe l’ensemble sous la presse à imprimer.
Ce qui nous est donné à voir, c’est la rencontre entre l’artiste et le végétal. Ses gestes servent donc à révéler la beauté spéciale de chaque brin posé là, parfois rejetée et dite « mauvaise », qui apparaît dans tout son éclat.
Elle produit ainsi une mélopée qui nous enveloppe et nous invite à regarder avec un espoir neuf chaque fleur qui s’offre, si modestement, à nos sens.

Alexandra David es franco-australiana y creció a orillas de un manglar. Ahora vive en un valle de los Vosgos. Aquí, en la «Pequeña Camarga», redescubre, en el bosque aluvial, el encuentro entre el agua y la tierra.
Viajó a la Amazonia, donde vivió un encuentro intenso y vertiginoso con las plantas. En el dosel, allá arriba, el viento susurra y la luz brilla sobre unas hojas increíbles. Alexandra David regresó con hojas en su bolsa, con la idea de transformarlas en obras de arte. Aplica tinta sobre un papel, coloca la planta encima y pasa el conjunto por la prensa de impresión.
Lo que se nos muestra es el encuentro entre la artista y la planta. Sus gestos sirven, por tanto, para revelar la belleza especial de cada tallo colocado allí, a veces rechazado y tildado de «malo», que aparece en todo su esplendor.
De este modo, crea una melodía que nos envuelve y nos invita a contemplar con renovada esperanza cada flor que se ofrece, con tanta modestia, a nuestros sentidos.

She traveled to the Amazon, where she experienced an intense, dizzying encounter with plants. High up in the canopy, the wind rustles and light shines on incredible leaves. Alexandra David returned with leaves in her bag, with the idea of transforming them into works of art. She applies ink to a sheet of paper, places the plant on top, and runs the whole thing through the printing press.
What we are shown is the encounter between the artist and the plant. Her gestures thus serve to reveal the unique beauty of each blade of grass placed there—sometimes rejected and labeled “bad”—which appears in all its splendor.
In this way, she creates a melody that envelops us and invites us to look with renewed hope at each flower that so modestly offers itself to our senses.

Alexandra David è franco-australiana ed è cresciuta sulle rive delle mangrovie. Ora vive in una valle dei Vosgi. Qui, nella «Petite Camargue», ritrova, nella foresta alluvionale, l’incontro tra l’acqua e la terra.
Si è recata in Amazzonia, dove ha vissuto un incontro intenso e vertiginoso con le piante. Sulla chioma degli alberi, lassù in alto, il vento fruscia e la luce risplende su foglie incredibili. Alexandra David è tornata con delle foglie nella sua borsa, con l’idea di trasformarle in opere d’arte. Versa l’inchiostro su un foglio di carta, vi adagia sopra la pianta e passa il tutto sotto la pressa da stampa.
Ciò che ci viene mostrato è l’incontro tra l’artista e la pianta. I suoi gesti servono quindi a rivelare la bellezza particolare di ogni stelo posato lì, a volte scartato e definito «cattivo», che appare in tutto il suo splendore.
Crea così una melodia che ci avvolge e ci invita a guardare con rinnovata speranza ogni fiore che si offre, con tanta modestia, ai nostri sensi.
