Conference: "Castelnau-le-Lez, chemin de la Madrague: a new window on the town between Protohistory and Antiquity, and continuing into the Middle Ages"
A new window on the history of Castelnau-le-Lez and the Sextantio agglomeration was opened during a preventive operation in 2024. It unearthed the successive remains of the Gallic settlement prior to the 3rd century BC, Gallo-Roman town planning up to the 2nd century, with evidence of the acculturation of the local population to Roman customs, and the continued occupation of the site in the Middle Ages up to the 15th century.

Conférence : « Castelnau-le-Lez, chemin de la Madrague : une nouvelle fenêtre sur l’agglomération entre Protohistoire et Antiquité, et permanence au Moyen Âge »
Une nouvelle fenêtre sur l’Histoire de Castelnau-le-Lez et de l’agglomération de Sextantio a été ouverte lors d’une opération préventive en 2024. Elle a permis d’exhumer les vestiges successifs de l’agglomération gauloise antérieure au III e s. av. J.-C., de l’urbanisme gallo-romain jusqu’à II e s., avec des éléments montrant l’acculturation des populations locales aux coutumes romaines, et la permanence de l’occupation du site au Moyen Âge jusqu’au XV e s.
Animée par David Tosna, responsable de recherches archéologiques à l’Inrap.

Een nieuw venster op de geschiedenis van Castelnau-le-Lez en de agglomeratie Sextantio werd geopend tijdens een preventieve operatie in 2024. De opeenvolgende overblijfselen van de Gallische nederzetting van vóór de 3e eeuw voor Christus, de Gallo-Romeinse stadsplanning tot de 2e eeuw, met bewijs van de acculturatie van de lokale bevolking aan de Romeinse gebruiken, en de voortdurende bezetting van de site in de Middeleeuwen tot in de 15e eeuw werden blootgelegd.

En ella se desenterraron los restos sucesivos del asentamiento galo anterior al siglo III a.C., el urbanismo galo-romano hasta el siglo II, con pruebas de la aculturación de la población local a las costumbres romanas, y la ocupación continuada del lugar en la Edad Media hasta el siglo XV.

Vortrag: "Castelnau-le-Lez, chemin de la Madrague: ein neues Fenster auf die Siedlung zwischen Frühgeschichte und Antike und Beständigkeit im Mittelalter"
Ein neues Fenster zur Geschichte von Castelnau-le-Lez und der Siedlung Sextantio wurde 2024 im Rahmen einer Präventivmaßnahme geöffnet. Jh. v. Chr., der gallo-römischen Stadtplanung bis zum 2. Jh., mit Hinweisen auf die Akkulturation der lokalen Bevölkerung an die römischen Bräuche und die dauerhafte Besiedlung des Ortes im Mittelalter bis zum 15.
Geleitet von David Tosna, Leiter der archäologischen Forschung am Inrap.

Das Klischee des schnurrbärtigen Bauern, der durch seinen Wald streift, und das Klischee des Kriegers, der sich hartnäckig wehrt, sind vorbei Die Präventivarchäologie ermöglicht es uns, die Komplexität der keltischen Zivilisation besser zu verstehen, die sich zwischen 800 und 51 v. Chr. über einen Großteil des heutigen Frankreichs erstreckte.

Vortrag: "Castelnau-le-Lez, chemin de la Madrague: ein neues Fenster auf die Siedlung zwischen Frühgeschichte und Antike und Beständigkeit im Mittelalter"
Ein neues Fenster zur Geschichte von Castelnau-le-Lez und der Siedlung Sextantio wurde 2024 im Rahmen einer Präventivmaßnahme geöffnet. Jh. v. Chr., der gallo-römischen Stadtplanung bis zum 2. Jh., mit Hinweisen auf die Akkulturation der lokalen Bevölkerung an die römischen Bräuche und die dauerhafte Besiedlung des Ortes im Mittelalter bis zum 15.
Geleitet von David Tosna, Leiter der archäologischen Forschung am Inrap.
