For generations the Malarrode estate has been home to the Mansanné family who have harvested the vines and farmed the land. In 1986, Gaston decided to devote the entire estate to winemaking; a total of 14 hectares of vines were planted, part of which were terraced. He then restructured the vineyard and invested in new barrels for the cellar.
