"The Ladies at the helm regatta is an original UNM creation which consists of a traditional regatta aboard habitable sailing boats, but for which an unavoidable imperative is set: a woman must be at the helm of the boat from one end of the regatta to the other.\n\nFor more than half a century, since its inception, the regatta has seen new participants every year, but fewer than the men, and their numbers are not growing as fast as the organisers would like. The UNM organisers are very keen on this regatta which, because of the predominance of women, gives it an exceptional character and, above all, a particularly convivial one.\n\nDepuis 2010 it underwent a major transformation, the arrival of a fleet of one-design boats chartered for the occasion by the participating clubs. The crews of the fleet of all these boats will be composed exclusively of women and it is up to all yacht clubs wishing to participate in the regatta to form the team that will defend their colours.
