Pour cette édition 2026, l’invité d’honneur se prénomme Claude Philipps. Maître ébéniste et professeur de lycée professionnel en ébénisterie d’art à la retraite, il s’est orienté dès les années 1990 vers la réflexion et le développement de la marqueterie contemporaine, un art du bois hérité d’une tradition ancestrale bien connue en Alsace, qu’il essaye de réinventer à travers des créations originales. Son travail se distingue par une approche où le bois devient un véritable langage artistique. Il compose des œuvres uniques à partir de différentes essences de bois soigneusement sélectionnées, jouant le plus souvent possible sur les textures, les contrastes et les nuances naturelles du placage.
Son approche artistique repose sur un dialogue permanent entre tradition et modernité : il s’inspire des techniques ancestrales de la marqueterie tout en développant des créations contemporaines, parfois figuratives, le plus souvent abstraites. Il cherche à créer des paysages purement imaginaires à partir de bois naturels, privilégiant la matière brute plutôt que la reproduction picturale, réalisés le plus souvent sur des formats ronds.
