Description longue de la ressource.
Anglais The writer Champfleury, a native of Laon, was a great admirer of cats, to whom he dedicated a now-famous essay in 1868, *Les Chats, Histoire - Mœurs - Observation - Anecdotes*.
He introduces us to and guides us through this exhibition, which explores the various facets of this fascinating animal, its presence by our side since time immemorial, and its behavior, which is, to say the least, full of contrasts: from the purring, affectionate companion to the tenacious hunter and fiercely independent creature.
Many artists have been passionately drawn to the cat, seeking to capture its personality and its relationships with men, women, and children.
Furthermore, this animal has strongly inspired our imagination—sometimes even to the point of fear—through folktales and literature; the French language, in fact, is peppered with expressions related to cats.
See you at the Museum of Art and Archaeology in Laon! (Open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
