De 13 studenten van de 38e lichting van het Centre National des Arts du Cirque worden door Victor Cathala en Kati Pikkarainen op de piste gezet in een indrukwekkende, speelse en %E9ontroerend – op de drempel van de %E2volwassenheid – %AB om ja te zeggen %E0 tegen het leven dat voor ons ligt! %BB. Medeoprichters van Cirque A%EFtal (wat in het Occitaans %AB Zo is het %BB betekent), die we hadden uitgenodigd voor de 2%E8e editie van Cirque-Th%E9%E2tre Quartier d?%E9t%E9 in de %C0 open lucht, hebben Victor en Kati elkaar begin jaren 2000 ontmoet, toen ze zelf nog studenten waren aan het CNAC. Vanuit hun eigen herinneringen aan die onzekere maar ook spannende periode die de intredein het beroepsleven, zetten ze aan tot nadenken over het vermogen om zich volledig aan de kunst over te geven en tegelijkertijd de sprong in het onbekende te wagen. Acrobatische houdingen, bascule, Chinese paal, Cyr-wiel, soepele draad, trapeze, riemen, evenwicht? %AB Tegen het heersende individualisme %BB in, werken ze aan het concept van de groep, de menigte, de massa, om een hybride vorm te creëren waarin het traditionele vocabulaire van het circus en het theater, de tekst en de livemuziek. Samen laten ze zien hoe je een beweging tot het uiterste kunt doorvoeren, je voor 100% in je bewegingen kunt storten en het risico dat inherent is aan elke circusdiscipline kunt integreren of zelfs tot een hoger niveau kunt tillen. Les 13 élèves de la 38è promotion du Centre National des Arts du Cirque sont mis en piste par Victor Cathala et Kati Pikkarainen dans un spectacle impressionnant, ludique, émouvant pour - au seuil de l’âge adulte - « dire oui à la vie qui vient ! ». Co-fondateurs du Cirque Aïtal signifiant « C’est ainsi » en Occitan), que nous avions accueilli pour la 2è édition de Cirque-Théâtre Quartier d’été avec À ciel ouvert, Victor et Kati se sont rencontrés au début des années 2000 alors qu’ils étaient eux-mêmes étudiants au… CNAC. Partant de leurs propres souvenirs de cette période à la fois incertaine et excitante qu’est l’entrée dans la vie active, ils proposent une réflexion autour de la capacité à se donner entièrement à son art tout en acceptant de plonger dans l’inconnu. Porté acrobatique, bascule, mât chinois, roue Cyr, fil souple, trapèze, sangles, équilibre… « Contre l’individualisme ambiant », ils travaillent la matière du groupe, de la foule, de la masse, pour construire une forme hybride où se côtoient le vocabulaire traditionnel du cirque et le théâtre, le texte, la musique live. Ensemble, ils démontrent comment aller au bout de son mouvement, habiter à 100 % sa gestuelle, et intégrer, voire sublimer, la part de risque inhérente à toute pratique circassienne. Let’s go !

The 13 students of the 38th graduating class of the National Center for Circus Arts take the stage under the direction of Victor Cathala and Kati Pikkarainen in an impressive, playful, %E9mouvant—as they stand on the threshold of %E2ge adulthood—%AB to say yes %E0 to the life that lies ahead! %BB. Co-founders of Cirque A%EFtal (meaning “That’s how it is” in Occitan), whom we welcomed for the 2%E8th edition of Cirque-Th%E9%E2tre Quartier d’%E9t%E9 under %C0 the open sky, Victor and Kati met in the early 2000s while they were students at the CNAC. Drawing on their own memories of that uncertain yet exciting period—the transitioninto working life, they explore the ability to devote oneself entirely to one’s art while embracing the unknown. Acrobatic poses, teeter-bobs, Chinese pole, Cyr wheel, flexible rope, trapeze, straps, balancing acts… %AB In contrast to the prevailing individualism %BB, they explore the dynamics of the group, the crowd, and the mass to construct a hybrid form where the traditional vocabulary of the circus and theater, script, and live music. Together, they demonstrate how to carry a movement through to its fullest, to fully embody one’s gestures, and to integrate—or even elevate—the element of risk inherent in any circus art form. I 13 allievi della 38ª classe del Centro Nazionale delle Arti Circensi vengono messi in scena da Victor Cathala e Kati Pikkarainen in uno spettacolo impressionante, giocoso, commovente per – alle soglie dell’età adulta – %AB dire sì %E0 alla vita che sta per iniziare! %BB. Co-fondatori del Cirque A%EFtal (che in occitano significa %AB Così sia %BB), che avevamo ospitato per la 2%E8 %E9dizione di Cirque-Th%E9%E2tre Quartier d?%E9t%E9 all’%C0 aria aperta, Victor e Kati si sono conosciuti all’inizio degli anni 2000, quando erano essi stessi studenti al CNAC. Partendo dai propri ricordi di quel periodo, al tempo stesso incerto ed emozionante, che è l’ingressonella vita attiva, propongono una riflessione sulla capacità di dedicarsi completamente alla propria arte, accettando al contempo di tuffarsi nell’ignoto. Porta acrobatica, altalena, trave cinese, ruota Cyr, filo flessibile, trapezio, cinghie, equilibrio? %AB Contro l’individualismo dilagante %BB, lavorano sulla materia del gruppo, della folla, della massa, per costruire una forma ibrida in cui si fondono il vocabolario tradizionale del circo e del teatro, il testo e la musica dal vivo. Insieme, dimostrano come portare a compimento il proprio movimento, vivere al 100% la propria gestualità e integrare, o addirittura sublimare, la componente di rischio insita in ogni pratica circense. Cofundadores del Cirque A%EFtal (que significa «Así es» en occitano), a quienes ya habíamos acogido en la 2.ª edición de Cirque-Th%E9%E2tre Quartier d?%E9t%E9 al aire libre, Victor y Kati se conocieron a principios de la década de 2000, cuando ellos mismos eran estudiantes en el CNAC. Partiendo de sus propios recuerdos de ese periodo, a la vez incierto y emocionante que supone la entradaa la vida activa, proponen una reflexión sobre la capacidad de entregarse por completo a su arte, al tiempo que se acepta lanzarse a lo desconocido. Portante acrobático, balancín, barra china, rueda Cyr, cuerda flexible, trapecio, correas, equilibrio… %AB En contraposición al individualismo imperante %BB, trabajan la materia del grupo, de la multitud, de la masa, para construir una forma híbrida en la que se entremezclan el vocabulario tradicional del circo y el teatro, el texto y la música en directo.
