Anglais The departmental domain of Mas Neuf is typical of vegetation that, despite its unspoilt look, has been deeply affected by human activity going back a thousand years. Here limestone dominates, shaping the landscape and being used to build farmhouses and dry stone walls. On a rocky spur that offers an outstanding view, the remains of a Chalcolithic dwelling dating from 2200 BC, the period when copper metalwork was emerging, have been revealed to the public after a number of archaeological excavation campaigns. The explanatory signs show the periods during which livestock and arable farming communities occupied the land, and the defensive nature of the building methods. A signposted walk (roughly an hour there and back) from the parking area reveals the full beauty of this place, steeped in tradition, and the cultural importance of the Rocher du Causse site. The Réseau Vert® (Green Network) lets you extend your itinerary to the south or the north.
