A la izquierda de la colina, entre el río y el castillo fundado en el siglo XI para contrarrestar la poderosa abadía, se distingue fácilmente el barrio medieval creado a partir del eje de la Grande Rue sobre un terreno irregular y denso.

Italien (Italie) L'evoluzione di St-Calais è visibile nello sviluppo urbano avvenuto nel Medioevo, su entrambe le sponde del fiume Anille. Sul lato destro, l'antico sito dell'abbazia, fondata nel VI secolo, è ancora visibile nei due alti frontoni dell'attuale centro risorse. Dopo la Rivoluzione francese, ha lasciato il posto a un centro amministrativo con edifici imponenti e strade rettilinee tipiche del XIX secolo. Sul lato sinistro della collina, tra il fiume e il castello fondato nell'XI secolo per contrastare la potente abbazia, si scorge facilmente il quartiere medievale nato dall'asse della Grande Rue su un terreno irregolare e denso.

Français (France) L’évolution de St-Calais est perceptible au travers de son urbanisme développé au Moyen Âge, de part et d’autre de l’Anille. Sur le versant droit, l’ancien site abbatial fondé au VIe s. est encore perceptible par l’élévation des deux hauts pignons du logis du centre de ressources actuel. Il a laissé place, à la Révolution, à un centre administratif aux bâtiments imposants et aux rues rectilignes typiques du XIXe siècle. Sur le versant gauche, à flanc de colline, entre la rivière et le château fondé au XIe siècle pour contrer la puissante abbaye, vous distinguerez aisément le quartier médiéval créé à partir de l’axe de la Grande- Rue sur un parcellaire irrégulier et dense.

Allemand (Allemagne) Die Entwicklung von St-Calais lässt sich an der im Mittelalter entwickelten Stadtplanung beiderseits des Flusses Anille ablesen. Auf der rechten Seite ist die ehemalige Abtei, die im 6. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde, noch an den beiden hohen Giebeln des Gebäudes des heutigen Ressourcenzentrums zu erkennen. Nach der Revolution wurde sie durch ein Verwaltungszentrum mit imposanten Gebäuden und geradlinigen Straßen, wie sie für das 19. Jahrhundert typisch waren, ersetzt. Auf der linken Seite des Hügels, zwischen dem Fluss und der Burg, die im 11. Jahrhundert gegründet wurde, um der mächtigen Abtei entgegenzuwirken, können Sie leicht das mittelalterliche Viertel erkennen, das von der Achse der Grande Rue aus auf einer unregelmäßigen und dichten Parzellierung entstanden ist.

On the right-hand side, the former abbey site, founded in the 6th century, can still be seen in the two high gables of the current resource center. After the French Revolution, it was replaced by an administrative center with imposing buildings and straight 19th-century streets. On the left-hand side of the hill, between the river and the castle founded in the 11th century to counter the powerful abbey, you can easily make out the medieval quarter created from the Grande Rue axis on a dense, irregular plot of land.
