Anglais During the 18th century, the cello gradually gained status as a solo instrument, but the repertoire for the instrument alone remained fairly limited until the end of the Romantic period. From the Baroque period, aside from a few compositions from the schools of Bologna and Naples, Johann Sebastian Bach’s suites stand out above all. Initially regarded as progressive etudes, they went on to become major works in the repertoire.

A sought-after teacher and one of the most renowned performers, Christophe Coin will perform the Fourth and Fifth Suites as well as pieces by Dall’Abaco, Gabrielli, and Supriani.
