Kuri Nuki is een traditionele Japanse vorm van boetseren met de hand. Het woord betekent "uitsnijden, uithollen" en het houdt in dat de buitenkant van een massief blok klei wordt gevormd, waarna het wordt uitgehold in een schaal om "een innerlijke ruimte" te creëren.
WABI-SABI roept rustieke eenvoud op, een natuurlijke elegantie, de rust van de natuur, de bloei van de tijd, de schoonheid en sereniteit die gepaard gaat met de leeftijd, slijtage en patina van het object. Het is ook roest, authenticiteit, het bewijs dat niets blijvend is, vergankelijkheid.
De kommen worden gedroogd in het atelier. Ze worden voor het eerst gebakken in een elektrische oven, daarna geglazuurd en uitgegloeid, ook weer in een elektrische oven, zodat ze als voedselcontainers kunnen worden gebruikt
