De straatjes slingeren in kringen rond de heuvel naar het uitzichtpunt op de top, waar men een mooi uitzicht heeft op de vlakte en de Monts du Matin. Charpey was the center of an important ancient mandement that also included the priory of Saint-Didier, the commandery of Saint-Vincent and the farming village of Bésayes. Destroyed in 1345 during the Episcopal War. Il villaggio si è sviluppato intorno al suo castello originario, protetto da massicci bastioni. Oggi di questa fortificazione rimangono solo alcune vestigia: case ornate da bifore e torri in rovina. Enclavado alrededor de su castillo original, el pueblo creció en círculo, protegido por enormes murallas. Hoy sólo quedan algunos vestigios de esta fortificación: casas adornadas con ajimeces y torres en ruinas.
