Néerlandais (Pays-Bas) Tijdens deze avond staat het instrument ook in de schijnwerpers met het tweede concerto dat Richard Strauss aan het hoorn heeft opgedragen. Dit werk ademt een Mozartiaanse helderheid, een kenmerk dat het deelt met Schuberts Vijfde symfonie. Toen Strauss voor de hoorn componeerde, dacht hij ongetwijfeld aan zijn vader, die in zijn tijd werd beschouwd als een van de grootste virtuozen op dit instrument. Naast Alexander Soddy, die zowel in de opera als in de symfonische muziek wordt gewaardeerd, nodigt het Orchestre du Capitole een uitzonderlijke vertolker uit, die dit werk volledig tot zijn recht laat komen: Stefan Dohr, eerste solohornist van het Berlijns Filharmonisch Orkest.
