El paseo, en su primera parte, bordea un torrente de montaña en el que es posible observar la fauna de este medio natural, como lo son el tritón de los Pirineos u otras especies de anfibios. A la altura del paso de Zurzai, la presencia de importantes turberas o humedales justifica el interés ecológico que tiene la caminata. Entre otras, el excursionista podrá observar droseras, planta carnívora muy habitual en este tipo de habitas naturales. La segunda parte del recorrida en cambio, transcurre a lo largo de los hayedos de la Selva de Irati, un hábitat diferente pero igualmente destacable por la riqueza de su fauna y de su flora. De vuelta al punto de partida, la ruta termina con la visita a los cromlechs, vestigios prehistóricos. De retour au plateau d'Iraty Cize, la randonnée se termine par la découverte de cromlechs, vestiges protohistorique qui témoignent de l'occupation très ancienne de la montagne basque. De tweede helft van de route gaat verder in het beukenbos van Iraty, een andere omgeving die net zo opmerkelijk is door zijn typische flora en fauna. Terug op het plateau van Iraty Cize eindigt de wandeling met de ontdekking van cromlechs, protohistorische overblijfselen die getuigen van de zeer oude bewoning van het Baskische gebergte. Tornati sull'altopiano di Iraty Cize, la passeggiata si conclude con la scoperta dei cromlech, resti protostorici che testimoniano l'antichissima occupazione delle montagne basche. Ausgehend von der Hochebene von Iraty Cize können Wanderer auf dieser leichten Route einen Teil des Waldes von Iraty entdecken. Der Rundweg führt in der ersten Hälfte an einem Gebirgsbach entlang, wo man die Fauna dieses natürlichen Lebensraums wie die Pyrenäen-Kuhschelle und andere Amphibien beobachten kann. Am Zurzai-Pass rechtfertigt das Vorhandensein von Torfmooren das sehr hohe naturkundliche Interesse an dieser Wanderung. Hier kann der Wanderer neben anderen Pflanzenarten auch die Drosera, eine fleischfressende Pflanze, die für diese natürlichen Lebensräume charakteristisch ist, finden. Die zweite Hälfte der Wanderung führt durch den Buchenwald von Iraty, ein weiterer Lebensraum, der aufgrund seiner typischen Fauna und Flora ebenso bemerkenswert ist.
